Basalt Fiber is a continuous fiber made from single-component pure natural volcanic rock, melted at a high temperature of 1450–1500°C and then rapidly drawn. It belongs to non-metallic inorganic fibers, appearing in a golden-brown color. Basalt fiber is non-combustible, non-toxic, environmentally friendly (low-carbon material), and features high temperature resistance, high strength, great toughness, low shrinkage, and excellent mechanical properties. Additionally, it demonstrates good asphalt dilution capability, combining the toughness and asphalt adsorption properties of polyester fiber with the strength, reinforcement, crack resistance, high-temperature resistance, and anti-aging properties of glass fiber.
Basalt Fiber Fabric is made primarily from basalt fiber through a process combining impregnation and warp-knitted reinforcement, forming a pavement anti-cracking material with high strength and excellent crack resistance.
Engineering Applications:
- Crack prevention at the seam between new and old road surfaces during road widening and reconstruction.
- Crack prevention during the overlay of old cement and asphalt concrete pavements.
- Crack prevention for pre-cut seams in new inorganic stabilized aggregate base layers.
- Waterproofing and crack prevention for bridge decks.
